UB Fit Attracts Over 600 Participants, BAISS Soccer Champions Crowned

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – What does support look like for higher education, health and wellness, and the potential to transform individuals, communities and the nation?

For University of The Bahamas this past weekend, it looked like the hundreds of racers who walked, ran, biked, skated and pushed their way through the streets of New Providence for UB FIT.

New relationships were forged, existing ones were strengthened and approximately $50,000 was raised to benefit UB students and important programs.

Whether through in-person and remote involvement, participants were excited and proud to be a part of UB FIT.

About 600 people overall participated in the 5k, 10k and 15k races. Co-chair of the organizing committee Kandice Eldon and UB President Dr. Erik Rolland spoke on the impact of the growing support for UB.

Meanwhile, Queen’s College swept the BAISS Soccer girls’ divisions, beating Windsor Prep 2-1 to take the junior girls’ title.

QC followed that up by routing Lyford Cay International School 6-0 for the senior girls’ title.

St Andrew’s took the junior boys’ title, beating Lyford Cay 1-0 in a thriller.

One of Lyford Cay’s three teams managed to leave rald with a chip when their senior boys beat St. Andrew’s 2-1.
