Repossession of Foreigners’ Land Not Off The Table

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With over $200 million dollars owed to the DIR for properties owned by foreigners, Economic Affairs Minister Michael Halkitis says repossessing those properties isn’t off the table.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With over $200 million dollars owed to the Department of Inland Revenue for properties owned by foreigners, Economic Affairs Minister Michael Halkitis says repossessing those properties isn’t off the table.

In the recent budget communication, Prime Minister Philip Davis revealed government is looking to crack down on delinquent accounts which amount to over $800 million in unpaid fees.

Halkitis says while repossession isn’t something they want to do there is a provision.
