NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Inland Revenue Acting Controller Shunda Strachan says the department is making positive progress when it comes to collecting outstanding arrears owed by foreign property owners.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Inland Revenue Acting Controller Shunda Strachan says the department is making positive progress when it comes to collecting outstanding arrears owed by foreign property owners.
The goal this year is for the department to collect its one point six million dollar revenue forecast by clamping down on collections.
In the last fiscal year, the department came shy of reaching its one point three million dollar revenue forecast, the lion share of which she says came from arrears collection.
The government has mandated it will go after those foreign-owned properties that were in high arrears. However, Strachan says the loan is to step up enforcement activities to reduce arrears.
