NASSAU, BAHAMAS – They show up for work everyday Monday to Friday but definitely not from 9-5. Their jobs help to shape governance and the things crucial to our everyday lives.

They are the people who make parliament work – the clerk, deputy clerk and assistant clerk.

Their responsibilities include an endless list of duties ensuring the legislative framework is strong and that doesn’t even touch the tip of the iceberg rather just a snapshot into the operations of the more popular House of Assembly and stately Senate.

Asharan Lightbourne is the lone female on the team.

But beyond helping to shape the political landscape there are some light moments as well – that have become fond memories.
