NASSAU, BAHAMAS – If you are in the western area of New Providence, you may want to keep an eye out, especially at night. The invasive cane toad is back and government officials warning residents to be on the lookout for the pesky amphibian.

Scott Johnson, a wildlife biologist and environmental scientist says while sightings of the animals are in the west, the toads are on the move.

Johnson was a part of search and capture efforts during the last emergence in 2021.

The latest prompted a release from Nassau Airport Development Company officials along with the Department of Agriculture and Ministry of Environmental Health.

While our interview site was not one of the places toads have been found, it is the type of ecosystem they gravitate to.
