NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 30-year-old woman is behind bars awaiting sentencing for neglecting her four-year-old son.

The woman, whose name has been withheld, pleaded guilty to cruelty to children at her arraignment before Acting Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans.

The mother on multiple occasions neglected her son by failing to pick him up from school.

The principal called reported the matter to police on April 3.

The magistrate ordered the child to be placed in protective custody. The mother will learn her fate on April 18.
