NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The two-man race for leader nearly became a three-way competition, party officials telling Our News there was a third application that ultimately was rejected.

The window of opportunity to nominate for one of the 52 positions now being contested in the free national movement closed at 5 pm Friday.

But as party officials revealed the names of the nominees for the top posts in the party, it was also revealed that one nomination form was irregular and therefore rejected.

Sources in the party tell Our News the form belonged to Claudeous Burrows who was looking to run for party leader.

As the party heads to the convention, Dr. Hubert Minnis will go head-to-head with Michael Pintard for party leader.

Shanendon Cartwright will go unopposed for Deputy Leader and Dr. Duane sands will go head-to-head with Elsworth Johnson for Chairman.
