Pintard and Minnis To Face Off at FNM Convention

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Free National Movement members from across the country showing up to support both former leader Dr. Hubert Minnis and current leader Michael Pintard.

The fanfare blocked parts of Mackey Street causing a traffic jam.

Dr. Minnis was first to arrive at the FNM Headquarters around 11 Friday morning.

Minnis led the FNM from 2012 to 2021. When asked recently whether he would contest the leadership post he remain tight-lipped.

He was asked Friday why he ultimately decided to run..

Dr. Minnis then officially nominated for the leadership position and shared with party supporters that he has unfinished work to complete.

An hour after Minnis nominated, current FNM Leader Michael Pintard arrived with a large backing.

Pintard was then followed by a large crowd inside the FNM Headquarters where he officially put his hat in the race for the leadership position.

Former FNM Deputy Prime Ministers Brent Symonette and Peter Turnquest were there to support Pintard.

Minnis also had supporters of his own including former Bamboo Town MP and Health Minister Renward Wells. He says he’s not concerned about the current divide within the party and shares why he believes Minnis is the best person to lead the party.
