Haiti’s PM Says Kenyan Police Early Days Are Positive
HAITI – Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille told the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday that Kenyan police are crucial for controlling gangs and moving towards democratic elections.
HAITI – Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille told the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday that Kenyan police are crucial for controlling gangs and moving towards democratic elections.
He says feedback from their initial days in the capital has been “extremely positive.”
Conille says his government will focus on gang violence, food insecurity, ensuring free elections, and rebuilding trust in the police.
On June 25, 200 Kenyan police arrived in Port-Au-Prince, with a pledge of 1,000 total.
They will be joined by police from The Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Benin, Chad, and Jamaica, forming a 2,500-person force.
