MEXICO – Mexico is pushing back against plans by U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump and VP-Elect JD Vance to deport a million migrants annually.

President Claudia Sheinbaum said Thursday that Mexico is negotiating to avoid taking in deportees from other countries.

The U.S. often relies on Mexico to accept migrants from nations like Cuba and Haiti due to strained diplomatic ties, but Sheinbaum says Mexico’s priority is its own citizens.
