NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamas AIDS Foundation Secretary Carlyne McKenzie explains the difference between HIV and AIDS.

She says over a period of time, a person that has developed aids will have a weakened immune system.

However she says there is treatment available.

Last month, health officials in Grand Bahama reported an increase in sexually transmitted infections, that month alone, 28 cases were recorded including gonorrhea, syphilis, chlamydia and HIV.

In that vein, McKenzie says the Bahamas AIDS Foundation is continuing their Family Island education outreach.
