NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A father has been charged after he went too far in disciplining his son for lying about not having homework.

The 41-year-old  man was arrested for child cruelty after the beating left his 10-year-old son with bruises about the body.

The boy’s mother reported the incident to the police after she saw the bruises when he visited her.

The father, who has had primary custody of his son since he was six months old, pleaded guilty to a charge of cruelty to children at his arraignment.

Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans ordered the man released from custody and told him to return to court on Friday.
