NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The association says they weren’t consulted by government on the recent Price Control Regulation amendment, and that their efforts to connect with relevant parties were ignored.
But today, we saw the effect on the public. Retiree Edward Cunningham shared his concerns about not being able to find his medication at any other, after finding his establishment of choice closed.
The Bahamas Pharmaceutical Association says the new regulation as well as their mounting expenses due to power bill hikes and minimum wage increases have forced them to close their doors, rather than have to pay any fines arising from incompliance.
One man who wished to remain anonymous, says he has been all over town looking for his medication at public clinics, with no luck.
And, Jannell Smith, an educator from Abaco says she flew in specifically to get something from this pharmacy that she can’t find at home. She asked that next time, some notice is given to the public.
