NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Survivors of sexual violence are holding a very special meeting to take back the night. Organizers say they’re hoping the event will help grow support, healing, and community amongst survivors.

Cindy Godet is a rape crisis advocate and a certified child sexual abuse prevention advocate.

This Friday at UB’s Harry C. Moore Library, Godet’s ‘Silent No More’, in collaboration with the American Corner, The Empowerment Group, and RISE Bahamas will hold an evening of support for survivors of sexual violence and their allies, called ‘Take Back the Night’ at the Harry C. Moore library at University of The Bahamas. Mental health professionals will also be present.

Although the event’s goal is to bring survivors together, Godet does reassure that privacy and safety will be prioritized.

‘Take Back the Night’ isn’t limited to survivors here in New Providence. If you’re a survivor on a Family Island who wants to participate, please message Cindy L. Godet, directly on Facebook for more information on how you can take part.
