NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A teenager is behind bars after was convicted of attempted murder for stabbing a student at Anatol Rodgers High School in 2022.

The 15-year-old was on bail pending his trial but was remanded into custody pending sentencing after the jury delivered its 7-2 verdict.

On September 12, the accused, who was 14 years old, stabbed another 14-year-old  student in the back during a lunchtime brawl.

Prior to the stabbing, the accused had been punched, kicked and stomped by at least four other students. However, the stabbing victim did not take part in the assault.

Nonetheless, the teen argued that he was acting in self-defense.
