NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The reopening of crawfish and lobster season brings a wave of relief and optimism to local fishermen.

After a four-month hiatus designed to preserve marine resources, fishers are eager to return to the water and reap the harvest.

Seasoned fisherman and owner of Grace and Mercy Stand, Milton Mcphee, is stationed at one of the city’s busiest docks.

Fisherman Gregory Brown echoed mcphee’s sentiments, noting that the catch from each lobster season sustains the local fishing community until the next.

Despite concerns about potential inclement weather, that’s no issue for these men.

However, as they celebrate the season’s opening, fishermen are calling for more enforcement during the off-season.
