Man Charged With Murdering Off-Duty Officer on Father’s Day

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man has been charged with the murder of an off-duty policeman as he made deposits for two businesses on Father’s Day.

Forty-two-year-old Ronald Telfort stood before Senior Magistrate Shaka Serville charged with the June 14 murder of Reserve Inspector Lernex Williams.

Telfort is also accused of robbing Williams of a deposit bag containing $25, 686.75, the property of Esso Service Station, Montrose Avenue, and a deposit containing $12,877.35, the property of Rubis Service Station, Joe Farrington Road.

Telfort was not required to enter a plea to the charges and denied bail.

He’s back in court in September to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.

Telfort is the second person to face charges in the case.

His girlfriend, Antoinette Henfield, is charged as an accessory after the fact to murder after she allegedly picked him up after he allegedly dumped the getaway car.

She was granted $10,000 bail and also returns to court in September.
