“I Believe Within My Heart, Tonight, a Quiet Revolution is Going to Take Place”

NASSAU , BAHAMAS – A complete 180 to the events of the advance poll is how many residents casting their votes in the Mount Moriah, St. Barnabas and Fort Charlotte constituencies described this morning’s process.

Our Megan Shepherd visited these polling stations.

Despite the hiccups, the PLP’s candidate for Fort Charlotte, Sebas Bastian, said he’s optimistic those concerns will be worked out, adding issues discovered during advance poll voting have been resolved.

Now Megan also spoke to residents about the process and what they hope to see from the next government.

There was the Jones family, led by patriarch Keith Jones.

He shared with Megan why he chose to vote and bring two generations of Joneses to participate and witness the process, his 12-year-old granddaughter, Keara, sharing how this experience shaped her view of the electoral process.

Next was University of The Bahamas, where constituents in the St. Barnabas communities went to mark their X.

That polling station also relatively quiet on Tuesday morning.

There, we caught up with the former Member of Parliament and now candidate for the area, Marvin Dames, and incumbent PLP candidate, McKell Bonaby.

From there, it was over to St. John’s College where we caught up with the Coalition of Independents candidate for Mt. Moriah, Linda Stubbs, who shared some of the challenges at that polling station.

Stubbs further explained that the constituent is a former resident of Abaco and was allowed to vote on the yellow ballot, something the party plans to contest.

For the newest candidate and party on the block, Stubbs remains confident.
