BDOCS Gifts Elderly Man a New Puppy Months After Shooting

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Meet Lassie, a playful Belgian Malinois puppy who’s already bringing new life and joy to Errol ‘Duke’ Strachan.

Back on March 6th, Strachan was left heartbroken after his dog “Trump” was fatally shot by a corrections officer – a case that sparked public outrage across the country.

Months later, after the matter was resolved between Strachan and BDOCS, that chapter is now being followed by one of healing, As he’s presented with a new companion.

“Well it was a lil surprising, you realize the officer shot my dog which was my favorite dog…[his] name was Trump, but they compensate me, I was satisfied, they gave me a brand new dog, which is ‘named] Lacey, a nice female, and I’m quite satisfied.”

Then for her name, it turns out the inspiration came from the big screen.

“It’s from a movie. There was a dog in the movie name Lacey German Sheperd.”

Strachan says it didn’t take long for Lassie to feel right at home.

Just hours after arriving, the energetic puppy was already exploring the yard she now shares with two other dogs.

“She was quite at home in just a few hours, they just brought her yesterday.”

“Well they see it, they kinda suspicious and whenever they pass by she rear up.”

With a new energetic pup to take care of, Strachan says he’s looking into creating a fenced-in portion of his yard for the new pup.

He’s also looking forward to training Lacey and watching her grow, while cherishing the memory of the dog he lost.
