NASSAU , BAHAMAR – While the arrival of His Majesty King Charles III was marked by royal ceremony and official protocol, the visit also sparked conversation among Bahamians.

From public expectations to what the royal visit means for The Bahamas, our Delvardo Emmanuel took to the streets to hear directly from the people.

Along West Bay Street, near Fry Fry, there were few spectators lining the road as King Charles III’s motorcade made its way through.

The King had just left Lynden Pindling International Airport, where he was greeted by Governor General Dame Cynthia Pratt, Prime Minister Philip Davis and his wife, Ann Marie Davis, along with Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell.

He also inspected the Guard of Honour before making his way to Clifford Park for a youth rally.

But along this stretch of his route, the crowds were noticeably thin.

In fact, members of the Rastafarian community were among the few groups that turned out in noticeable numbers.

Still, for those who did show up, it was a moment they didn’t want to miss.

Dominica Beneby – Team Bahamas United World 2026

“This moment means everything to me because I get to see royalty right in front of my own eyes. And as the reigning title holder, it just makes me feel proud to represent my country as your Team Bahamas United World 2026.”

And it wasn’t just Bahamians taking in the royal visit.

Amy Lindsay, who is visiting from Kentucky, also got a chance to witness the occasion.

And she says the King’s arrival wasn’t the only thing that caught her attention.

Amy Lindsay – Visitor, Kentucky

“Very exciting, ’cause I’ve been seeing a lot of different changes going on since I’ve been here. The roadwork and cleanup, and they’ve really been… things have really been looking nice here.”

Amy Lindsay – Visitor, Kentucky

“I’d be honored if he’d come to Kentucky, you know, just like you’re being honored that he’s coming to The Bahamas, you know.”
