DPM Reacts To Exuma Tourist Death

EXUMA, BAHAMAS – Following the death of a tourist at Grand Island on Exuma, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Chester Cooper says the ministry is reaching out to the family.

The Virginia native was found dead Friday morning.

The resort issued a statement confirming the death. It added the 87-year-old woman was found in the shower of one of the condo hotel residences.

Cooper calls it an unfortunate circumstance.

Sources told Our News that the victim slipped and fell while taking a shower causing serious injuries that led to her death.

The Exumas and Ragged Island Member of Parliament said while Exuma has had its share of tragedy in Exuma, they remain positive about the future.

He added it will have no impact on the island’s tourism product.
