NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Nearly 30,000 visitors stopped in the Port of Nassau recently, breaking the record for visitor arrivals in a single day.

Six ships brought 28,554 passengers to the Nassau Cruise Port Ltd., but is more, really more?

The record-breaking milestone was shared on the Porthole Cruise and Travel Facebook page, where some commenters voiced their preference for less crowded shores when visiting New Providence.

One commenter said, “It was a nightmare, it was crazy the amount of people trying to walk”.

Another added, “I just stay on my ship anyway while there”.

Another commenter wrote, “Poor islanders. Their lives will never be the same again. All they have now is the tourist dollar and old island ways of working for their own good lost forever. Such a horrible shame”.

Another, “Glad I wasn’t there. the only thing worse than a stop at Nassau is a stop at Nassau with six ships in port”!

Another visitor asked the question, “where does the money go from all the passengers getting off the ship? Bahamas sure doesn’t put it back into the town, looks like”.

For other commenters, it all boiled down to the visitor experience, noting, “They should have at least staggered the arrival time of the ships. The guest experience is lost with so many people. It’s taxing on the infrastructure. Just because you can dock so many doesn’t mean you should”.
