NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Mixed reactions from residents today over the move that caught many by surprise over the weekend the proroguing of parliament.

Governor General Sir Cornelius A. Smith, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Philip Davis, prorogued parliament on Saturday.

Commissioner of Police Clayton Fernander read the proclamation on the steps of the House of Assembly on Saturday.

The new session of parliament will begin on October 4th, 2023. These residents say they believe it will impact accountability.

There’s also talks about a possible cabinet shuffle, something these residents have mixed views on.

Rumours also circulating that there could be a new governor general soon these residents sharing their desired picks.
