NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One of the most recognizable brands in the fashion world has returned to Downtown Nassau, after an absence of about a decade.

The United Colors of Benetton has re-emerged to the Bay Street scene, evoking a bit of nostalgia for many Bahamians, just in time for Christmas.

Our Jerome Sawyer dropped by the new location, a few hours before the re-opening.

The name alone takes many of us down memory lane, to a time when bay street was the country’s fashion mecca.

And now it’s back.

A loyal shopper – who made a practice visiting locations worldwide – CEO Monette Curtis, recalls her “Ah-Ha” moment came after she walked out the store in Rome with two shopping bags of merchandise.

Three years later, she’s realizing a dream, and re-opening the doors of the famous United Colors of Benetton, known globally for its iconic styles and colors.

She’s hoping this reimagined location will help to spark the much needed fashion reniassance downtown.

Of course, my visit would not be complete without an opportunity to try on some merchandise.
