NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Head Coach Travano McPhee is at the helm of this year’s CARIFTA swim team, which is on the hunt for its 8th straight championship. The team was named last week, holding its first workouts on Saturday.

BASKETBALL – Bahamians Have Big Games Over the Weekend

VJ Edgecombe ran the show in his Philadelphia 76ers’ 104-97 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

The 6’4″ combo guard from Bimini led the team with 7 assists, 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

His playmaking help set his teammate Quentin Grimes up for a team-high 28 points.

Deandre Ayton had 9 points, 9 rebounds, scoring some tough buckets down the stretch in overtime to help his LA Lakers gut out a 127-125 win over the Denver Nuggets.

Luka Doncic had 32 points, two of which came on a wild step back from the short corner with half a second left to put the Lakers ahead, along with 11 rebounds and 13 assists for a triple-double.

Austin Reaves came up big as well, dropping 30, 7 and 6.

Over in college on Friday night, Rhema Collins did everything she could to will her FIU Panthers to the Conference USA Tournament Finals, but her team couldn’t quite get there.

The Conference USA’s player of the year, and newcomer of the year, dropped 27 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in her team’s 74-69 semifinal loss to Missouri State on Friday night.
