UNITED STATES – President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to pay Transportation Security Administration workers after congress failed to pass funding for parts of the Homeland Security department.

The move comes after House Speaker Mike Johnson rejected a Senate-approved bill that would have paid TSA employees but left out funding for immigration enforcement agencies, according to the Associated Press.

The White House says the payments will come from previously approved funds in last year’s tax cut package, which continues to support security operations during the partial shutdown.

The funding dispute remains part of a broader standoff between Republicans and Democrats over U.S. immigration policy.
