NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 33-year-old man left paralyzed by a police shooting is behind bars.

Carlos Butler faced charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, when he stood before acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans.

Prosecutors allege that on April 24, butler held up and armed policeman, robbing him of deposit bags containing nearly 17 thousand dollars and a black Nissan Murano.

The officer shot butler multiple times, leaving him paralyzed.

Butler was not required to enter pleas to the charges, and he was denied bail.

The matter was adjourned to August 13 for the presentation of voluntary bill of indictment papers, to fast-track the case to the supreme court.
