NASSAU , BAHAMAS – After nearly ten hours in the air, King Charles III touched down on Bahamian soil, His Majesty arrived at Lynden Pindling International Airport aboard an Airbus KC2 Voyager just after 4 p.m., where a formal welcome awaited.

On the red carpet, the King was greeted by Governor General Dame Cynthia Pratt and Prime Minister Philip Davis, as they officially welcomed the head of state.

The 30-minute arrival ceremony also featured an inspection of the guard, during which His Majesty spoke briefly with officers.

Beyond the ceremonial welcome, the visit carried historical significance.

It marked King Charles’ first official visit to The Bahamas since ascending to the throne in 2022.

His last official visit to the country was in 1973, when, as Prince of Wales, he represented Queen Elizabeth II at the celebrations marking The Bahamas’ independence.

During his three-day stay, the King’s programme is set to focus on the next generation, with a youth rally at Clifford Park, along with engagements highlighting environmental conservation and the role of sport in empowering young people.

The royal programme also includes opportunities to experience Bahamian culture and heritage through Junkanoo and community engagements in Nassau.

More than five decades later, he returned as King, as the country continued to shape its future within the Commonwealth.
