NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Two Bahamian apparel brands are joining forces to support women battling breast cancer.

Bahari Bahamas and Androsia are launching an exclusive collection in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

It features Androsia’s signature batik designs fused with Bahari’s blue.

But beyond fashion, the partnership is about making a difference in the lives of women undergoing cancer treatment.

Bahari is providing financial assistance to five women through its annual initiative, in partnership with the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group.

During Saturday’s cheque presentation at Bahari’s Southwest Plaza location, General Manager Carole Barnett and Androsia Batik Factory representative Terran Simms spoke about the historic partnership.

Carole Barnett – General Manager, Bahari Bahamas

“Every year, we donate to four individuals, and this year we’re donating to five individuals. We’re also happy to say that this year we’ve partnered with the iconic brand Androsia. As you look around the store, you will see that our designs this year depict the batik designs of Androsia and, of course, the fusion of the blue, which represents Bahari.”

“When Androsia was first founded in the late 1960s, it was founded to empower the women of Andros, so it’s great that today we can support this initiative by bringing comfort and help to those around us in need.”

The five recipients were selected through the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group.

President Shantell Cox-Hutchinson says they are grateful for the support, which highlights the importance of helping women navigate the financial and emotional challenges that often accompany cancer treatment.

A 21-year cancer survivor, Cox-Hutchinson reflected on her own experience with chemotherapy and the difficult journey that follows.

“I had to take Taxol every week. I had to go through that journey. So, organisations like Bahari and Androsia and everybody else that supports us, you have to know how much this means to these ladies and how much it means to me as a survivor, because the journey is not easy.”
