Iram Lewis To Offer Himself As FNM Leader

Central Grand Bahama Member Of Parliament Iram Lewis has officially entered the race for Free National Movement Leader.

He tells Berthony Mcdermott, he believes he has what it takes to move the party forward and he is hoping to get the support of Dr. Hubert Minnis. 

The Central Grand Bahama MP the first to announce plans to run for Leader of the Free National Movement at the party’s Convention on November 27th.

Iram Lewis believes he’s the right man to rebuild the FNM and reconnect with the party’s base.

He said while the FNM’S ideals haven’t changed, he believes the party went off track.

When asked what he thinks the party lost the election, Lewis chalked it up to voter apathy.

Following its defeat, the FNM announced that Dr. Hubert Minnis will remain on as leader of the official opposition until the party’s convention when a new leader is expected to be elected.

Lewis says based on his discussions with Dr. Minnis, he is expecting him to step down.

Lewis said he would like the former Prime Minister’s endorsement, adding he believes he has support within the party.

Lewis, who served as Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture under the Minnis administration, is one of seven FNM Members of Parliament.
