GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Aisha Bowe will soon be the first Bahamian in space, but first, she’s making a difference on the ground helping Bahamian kids to take off in subjects like science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Aisha Bowe is a Bahamian American with a list of accomplishments.

She’s a former NASA rocket scientist, the founder and CEO of Stemboard, one of the fastest growing companies in America according to inc. 5000.

But this almost didn’t happen. When Bowe was in high school, it was suggested she pursue cosmetology.

It wasn’t until college that she discovered her passion for engineering.

Over the next two days, the SEED Coding Workshop, part of The Grand Bahama Port Authority’s STEM Empowerment & Educational Development Program will allow Grand Bahamian school kids to learn to code using a coding kit created by Bowe herself.

Bowe hopes workshops like this may break down barriers and make stem careers accessible to everyone.
