NASSAU , BAHAMAS – The Guard of Honour, comprising members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, stood ready as the King and his entourage arrived shortly after 10:30 a.m on Thursday afternoon.

After exiting his vehicle, the King mounted the saluting dais for the final time as the Bahamian national anthem played.

He then walked down the red carpet, exchanging final goodbyes and well wishes.

The King first greeted Health Minister Dr. Michael Darville, Prime Minister Philip Davis, his wife, Ann Marie, and their grandson, Noah, before sharing a few final words with Governor General Dame Cynthia Pratt.

He then made his way up the stairs, offering one final wave before boarding the Airbus KC2 Voyager that brought him to New Providence.

During his first official visit to The Bahamas as monarch, the King took part in several engagements, including a youth rally at historic Clifford Park, visits to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force base, Bonefish Pond National Park and the Bahamas Boxing Academy, a cultural festival in downtown Nassau, and a reception at Government House.

The King’s next stop is Guyana, followed by Antigua and Barbuda for the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, also known as CHOGM, scheduled for November 1 to 4.
